London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow Airport is one of the world's busiest (in terms of international passenger movement) and most sophisticated airports. The airport is some 17 miles (27 km) west of central London. The airport has very good public transport links to and from Central London. The best way heading to Central London is to use public transport.
Facilities Heathrow Airport
There are ATMs and change facilities throughout the airport, as well as post offices in Terminals 2 and 4. There are public telephones in the main areas of each terminal, as well as wall-mounted pay fax machines. Wireless Internet access is available in the Departures lounges of all terminals. Many shops can be found in each terminal including music shops, bookshops, newsagents, clothing accessories shops, electrical goods shops, pharmacies, sunglasses shops, shoe shops, sweet shops and perfumeries. Many restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets, coffee shops, pubs and sandwich bars can be found throughout the airport aswell.
Public transport Heathrow Airport
Heathrow airport has very good public transport links to and from Central London. Heathrow Express is the fastest, most frequent way (but it is also by far the most expensive way) to travel between Heathrow Airport and central London. With no traffic jams, taxi queues or stops to worry about, you can be in the centre of London, or inside the airport, in just 15 minutes.

The airport is also on the London Underground's Piccadilly Line, which can take passengers into central London, journey time 50 minutes. There are three Tube stations at Heathrow Airport, serving Terminals 1-3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5. A single ticket into Central London (Zone 1) costs £4. If you're going to be using London's public transport system, it's well worth buying an Oyster card.
Another way to get to London city is by National Express. National Express run a direct coach service from Heathrow Central Bus Station to London Victoria Coach Station every 30 minutes. In 40 to 50 minutes you'll arive at London Victoria Coach station and fares are available from £4 if bought on the internet.
London Gatwick Airport
Within easy reach of London, Gatwick is the busiest single runway airport in the world, the second largest airport in the UK and the eighth largest in Europe. There are currently around 90 airlines which operate from our two terminals, serving over 200 destinations from Athens to New York and Zagreb. The airport is located 45km (28 miles) south of London.
