Bangkok is one of Asia's most important air transport hubs. Suvarnabhumi Airport, also known as Bangkok International Airport, is located in Racha Thewa in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan Province, about 25 km east of downtown Bangkok. This airport is the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, PBair and Thai AirAsia.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport

Suvarnabhumi is one of the busiest airports in Asia and is also a major air cargo hub. The airport's passenger terminal currently being the fourth biggest passenger terminal building in the world. The airport has 2 parallel runways and 2 parallel taxiways to accommodate simultaneous departures and arrivals. Between the airport hotel and the terminal building are the two 5-storey car park buildings with a combined capacity of 5,000 cars.

Public Transport Center

The Public Transport Center has a total area of about 42,000 m2 or 26 Rai. The area is divided into a car park area and a waiting area for various mode of transportation, such as taxi, limousines, and car rentals. Moreover, within the center, there is a bus terminal for 2 types of public transportation stations, for Bangkok Mass Transport Authority (BMTA) and Transport Company Limited buses. There are also a petrol station and a convenient store.

Duty-Free Zone

The government has a policy to promote Suvarnabhumi Airport as a Center of Aviation, Passenger and Cargo Transportation. Therefore, the Duty-Free Zone was created in order to facilitate the handling of inbound, outbound cargo and transit cargo with minimum customs procedure. The Duty Free Zone is located in the northwest end of the Airport, and has a total area of 549,416 m2 or about 345 Rai, as a well as public area of 111,156 m2 .

Accomodations

The Tourist Authority of Thailand and other hotel and tourist agencies have counters on the second floor of the main terminal. These agencies offer hotel reservation service.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is the only official hotel at Suvarnabhumi Airport, located within 10 minutes walk to the passenger terminal and the location of the hotel is not effected by the noice pollution of aircraft taking-off and landing. The Novotel hotel Suvarnabhumi is located about 300 meters from the Passenger Terminal, with 600 rooms, and other facilities such as function rooms, restaurants, spa and fitness room.
