Anna Frank House - Amsterdam

This museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Annelies Marie "Anne" Frank born in Frankfurt am Main (12 June 1929) was a Jewish girl who lived most of her life in or near Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. Anne Frank has been acknowledged for the quality of her writing, and has become one of the most renowned and most discussed victims of the Holocaust.

During world War II she went into hiding in the office building of Anna Frank's Father. It was housed on 263 Prinsengracht, in the centre of Amsterdam. The rooms of the Secret Annex have been maintained in their authentic state thanks to conscientious preservation activities. The rooms in the Secret Annex are empty, because the furniture was carted away directly after the arrest. Salvaged documents and objects belonging to the eight people in hiding are now displayed in the Secret Annex.

A visit to the Anne Frank House lasts around one hour. There are no tours or guides. A tour brochure with background information about the different rooms in the museum is available at the entrance.
