Amsterdam has more than 400 hotels of varying standards from cheap hostels to luxury hotels. Booking in advance is recommended, especially when you're planning a citytrip to Amsterdam for a weekend or in holidays. You can find most of the hotels in the centre of the canal ring, especially south of Centraal Station, or near Museumplein. Hostels are also found around the Warmoesstraat, in the red light district.

A twin room in a budget hotel, 1-2 stars, might cost around EUR 40 in winter time on weekdays, and up to EUR 100 on summer weekends. Hotels that focus on the traveler include Mercure, ABBA(close to the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum)and Hotel Tamara, a cheap hotel and very close to the center. In a three and four star hotel, the prices would range from EUR 100 to EUR 200, depending on season.
