Hong Kong International Airport, also known as Chek Lap Kok Airport, is the main airport in Hong Kong. The airport is located 34km northwest of Hong Kong Island. Flights are operated by roughly 90 airlines to over 150 cities across the world, including some 40 cities on the Chinese Mainland. It has two terminals and there is a free automatic train, the people mover, between the east and west wings of Terminal 1 and from Terminal 2 to the piers.
Airport Facilities
The Customer Service Centres can be found in the Departures check in hall and in the arrivals hall, open daily 0530-2400. Multi-media booths are situated in the East, West, and Arrivals halls, with interactive information and a touch-screen map. There are many 24 hour help phones located throughout the airport.
A safe and secure left luggage service, including short-term storage facilities, is available inside the Arrivals Hall of the airport. Trolleys are available at all passenger drop-off points. A porter service operated by WFS (tel: 2261 2727), which also offers a home baggage pickup and delivery service, (tel: 2122 9813), is available at various points, including outside the Departures hall and the baggage reclaim hall.
The Plaza Shower and Relaxation Lounge is located on level 7 of the west hall, it is open 24 hours and provides shower rooms, semi-private napping rooms and a mini salon. Hong Kong Airport has a wide range of shops, restaurants, snack bars and cafés. Terminal 1 has over 160 retail shops (mostly in restricted area), and terminal 2 has about 90 retail shops (mostly in non-restricted area). You can find free Wi-Fi throughout Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
There is a full service bank, and several bureaux de change counters and ATMs located throughout the terminal.
Parking Lot
Hong Kong International Airport offers more than 3,200 public parking spaces in the three car parks (1, 2 and 4 - phone: +852 2286 0163) All airport car parks have been converted to automated parking. Car park users are required to use your Octopus Card, Visa or MasterCard to enter the car parks and settle payment at the exits. Car Park 1 and 4 offer complimentary parking for vehicles that park for 30 minutes or less. This offer can be used once in any three-hour period. Vehicles that stay longer than 30 minutes are charged in full for their stay. The coach station at T2 provides 36 pick-up bays for coaches.
Airport Express train
Airport Express is one of the world's leading airport railway systems, offering convenient transportation between Hong Kong International Airport and the Hong Kong's city center. The Airport Express Line arrives in Central downtown in 24 minutes.
Airport Shuttle Bus
Hong Kong International Airport is also well served by public bus routes, taking passengers to and from most parts of Hong Kong. Public buses leave from the Ground Transportation Centre and from near car parks 1 and 2. There are several routes to various parts of Hong Kong, including North Point Ferry Pier, Hung Hom station, and Lam Tin station. These bus lines are operated by three companies: Citybus (tel: +852(0)2 873 0818), Long Win (tel: +852(0)2 261 2791) and New Lantao (tel: +852(0)2 984 9848).
