Beijing has a complete range of hotel choices in all price categories, from luxurious five-star suites to deluxe mid-priced hotels and clean, comfortable rooms even in the budget category. The Palace Hotel in Beijing (close to the Forbidden City), has gained international reputations for his exquisite decor, international gourmet dining, and first-class service. Many of the hostels are located in Dongcheng District and Xuanwu District.

Budget hotels and Mid-range

It's hard to find some place to sleep for those determined to get a bargain. The lowest end Chinese accommodations are generally inaccessible to the foreign community. However restrictions on where foreigners can stay have become less and less frequently enforced. Discounted rates start around CNY30 for dorms and just below CNY200 for doubles in the cheapest hostels. Luxury hotels

Beijing has come a long way even since the early 1990's in terms of service, management, and facilities. All 4 & 5-star hotels have complete business centers with computer and secretarial services available. For the most expensive hotels, the listed rates start at around CNY4,000, but are often discounted to a level around CNY1,500. Among the luxury hotels in Beijing are The Peninsula Beijing (CNY3,400), Grand Hotel Beijing (CNY3,450-14,950) and Legendale Hotel Beijing (CNY4,140-7,820).
